SUMMARY:2025 Water Wonks Hour Lecture Series #2: The values of the Net Zero Water concept and how it integrates with the adoption of the One Water Framework across Texas
DESCRIPTION:The Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance is pleased to introduce our 2025 Water Wonks Lecture Series. Mark your calendars for 3:30 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Water Wonks will feature a host of experts sharing innovative ideas and details about their work in the world of water.  The series is a free community education opportunity.\nPlease sign up using the form below to express your intention to attend this lecture.  Meeting details will be sent to your email as soon as you sign up.\n \nLecture #2: The values of the Net Zero Water concept and how it integrates with the adoption of the One Water Framework across Texas\nSpeaker: Chandler Crouch, Texas Water Trade | Net Zero Water Engineer\nBio: Chandler is a professional civil engineer with nearly a decade in the Texas water industry. His professional tenure includes community based impact while serving in the US Peace Corps and detailed water project implementation for major municipalities across Texas. A native Central Texan, Chandler has a strong awareness of the balance between conservation of our water resources and the population driven development Texas is facing. Through leading the Net Zero Water Program, Chandler provides guidance and technical expertise to stakeholders and decision makers on applying onsite water reuse and conservation technologies.  Chandler holds a BS in civil engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station and lives in Lake Travis, Austin with his wife.\nSynopsis: Texas needs smart water management to meet growing water needs while facing declining supplies. Net Zero Water is a One Water strategy that invites the urban environment to contribute to water accessibility by leveraging water reuse at the building footprint scale. Buildings can be equipped to capture, store, treat, and reuse a variety of source waters such as air conditioning condensate, rainwater, and even treated wastewater to meet significant portions, if not all, of their water demands.\nThis reuse strategy improves a building’s water resiliency and reliability while alleviating strain on traditional groundwater and surface water supplies. Texas Water Trade launched the Net Zero Water Toolkit – a public resource designed to guide property developers, owners/operators, and other land development professionals in Texas from design, to permitting, to maintenance of onsite water reuse. \nAcross Texas, many projects have already recognized the advantage of Net Zero Water systems, and this presentation will explore the various sources, treatments, and uses for onsite reuse water and showcase technologies already operating in Central Texas. \nStay tuned for additional monthly lecture topics coming in 2025!\n \n WATER WONKS HOUR SERIES\n \n
