Development Director.

The Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance (GEAA) unites Texans to promote effective, broad based
advocacy for preservation of our water resources. GEAA builds support for conservation and
sustainable management of the Edwards and Trinity aquifers, springs and contributing
watersheds, flora and fauna, and the quality of life, history, and culture of the Texas Hill
Country.

GEAA has originated a comprehensive program of science, advocacy, and public engagement
aimed at protecting the quality and quantity of spring flows from the Edwards and Trinity
aquifers. Policy and programs are determined by consensus of the fifty-nine member
organizations. Its member organizations are scattered throughout the twenty-one county
Edwards and Trinity aquifer regions and are as diverse as the region it represents.

Position Overview

Reporting to GEAA’s Executive Director, the Development Director will serve as a critical
member of GEAA’s leadership team and work collaboratively with the staff and board members
to:

• Establish a robust fundraising program to support the full range of GEAA’s mission,
  including operations, technical research, programs, and projects.
• Identify, cultivate, and provide stewardship for potential and current individual,
  corporate, and foundation donors.
• Increase membership in GEAA’s Water Guardians program and assist in planning three  
  to four Water Guardians events annually.
• Assist in planning and executing GEAA’s annual Fall Gala.
• Increase membership in GEAA’s business campaign, Texans for Every Drop.
• Increase participation in GEAA’s Endowment and Legacy Giving programs.
• Initiate campaigns to increase GEAA individual membership and expand membership
  throughout GEAA’s twenty-one county service area.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative self-starter who enjoys networking and
interfacing with community members at every level. Driven by a desire to support GEAA’s
mission, the Development Director will be a resourceful, continuous learner who enjoys a
hands-on role working with a close-knit team.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:
• A genuine interest and commitment to GEAA’s mission
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ease with public speaking
• Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task, when needed
• Strong relationship skills
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, and
  experience working with (or an aptitude to learn) donor tracking software.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff and volunteers
• Valid driver’s license (required)
• Associate or bachelor’s degree (a plus)

Experience is strongly preferred, but in fulfilling all aspects of this position, GEAA is willing
to train and collaborate as needed.

Compensation

Salary commensurate with education and experience. GEAA offers health insurance
reimbursement, generous paid time off, and paid holidays. Opportunities for
advancement.
 

Requirements/Other

Work may be done remotely and/ or at the office of the Greater Edwards Aquifer
Alliance in San Antonio, Texas.  Some travel within the twenty-one counties of GEAA’s
service area may be required.

Office hours are flexible, usually from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Occasional weekends and after hours may be required.

The Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance (GEAA) is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and mission-driven
Administrative & Special Projects Assistant to join our team.

This is more than an administrative position. It is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in protecting the
aquifers, springs, rivers, and watersheds that provide clean water to millions of Texans.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, communicating important messages,
organizing information, supporting fundraising efforts, and helping a nonprofit mission succeed.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable updating social media, maintaining donor records, representing GEAA at
community events, and helping coordinate our annual gala and fundraising activities.

Position Overview

  • Support Donors and Fundraising
  • Maintain and update GEAA’s donor database and mailing lists.
  • Process and acknowledge donations, memorial gifts, honorariums, and pledges.
  • Generate thank-you letters and donor communications.
  • Assist with fundraising campaigns and donor outreach.
  • Help ensure donors receive appropriate recognition on our website, publications, and event
    materials.
  • Help Tell GEAA’s Story
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the GEAA website using WordPress.
  • Create and schedule social media content highlighting conservation issues, policy updates, events,
    and organizational achievements.
  • Assist with email communications and online campaigns.
  • Help share the stories, successes, and impact of GEAA’s work across Texas.
  • Coordinate Events and Special Projects
  • Assist with planning and coordinating GEAA events, including our annual gala.
  • Help secure and organize silent auction items and sponsorships.
  • Attend community events, conferences, and outreach activities as a representative of GEAA.
  • Support special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for events.
 

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have strong writing skills, basic computer skills,
organizational skills, public speaking and communication skills, commitment to our
mission, and be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

Experience is strongly preferred, but in fulfilling all aspects of this position, we are
willing to train and collaborate as needed.

Compensation

Hourly pay (20 per week) is commensurate with education and experience. Opportunities for
advancement.
