Educational Resources for Teachers

The Edwards Aquifer is a mysterious maze of underground rivers, chutes, and rivulets that provides the essential source of life in Central and South Texas. It is the main source of drinking water for more than 2 million people and dozens of communities who rely on it for agricultural, industrial, recreational, and domestic potable and non-potable water supplies. It is also home to over 50 unique species of plants and animals found nowhere else on earth.

Despite the aquifer’s immense value to human, animal, and plant life, urban development now threatens the basic integrity of the Edwards Aquifer Ecosystem.

The Teacher Resource Center is designed to equip educators to teach students about all aspects the Edwards Aquifer – including geology, hydrology, and the human impact on this fragile ecosystem.
