Building Healthy Landscapes to Meet Urban Challenges

Join GEAA Technical Director Debbie Reid for a workshop explaining why and how to
build a healthy soil on your own property!

The workshop will provide details on how a healthy soil can remove as much carbon dioxide from the air as a tree and store it. A healthy soil will enhance groundwater, creeks and aquifer recharge while improving water quality. A healthy soil can also capture more stormwater, reducing runoff and preventing erosion. These benefits depend on maintenance practices and can be enhanced by installing additional best management practices. You will also learn what soil tests you can use to monitor your soil health.

    • How Landscape Maintenance Practices Can Be Used to Create Healthy Soils

    • How Healthy Soils can Assist in Mitigating Air and Water Quality and Flooding

    • Recommended Practices to Build Healthy Landscapes

    • The Role of Trees and Their Proper Maintenance, and
