Dear GEAA members and friends, I am delighted to be here one more year to wish you a Happy Holiday Season. We have made so much progress on so many important issues during the past year; we have a lot to celebrate. Century Oaks Developers, City, SAWS Put on Notice of Intent to Sue for Failure to Comply with Federal Law
A Notice of Intent to Sue was mailed to Gordon Hartman and others affiliated with the Century Oaks development by Cibolo Creek Conservation Society Inc., Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance (“GEAA”), and Aquifer Guardians for Urban Areas (“AGUA”) on November 7th. The Notice is directed to Gordon Hartman and Shaggy Development LLC) as well as Bitterblue, Inc., the City of San Antonio and San Antonio Water System (SAWS) and Judson Independent School District. The Notice alleges violations of the Endangered Species Act in the development of the Century Oaks / Wortham Oaks site located on the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. Century Oaks

High School Students are invited to State Youth Water Camp
The 2012 State Youth Water Camp will be July 8-12 at the Bentley 4-H Center in Monahans. The camp is open to high school students who are interested in water conservation and water issues and is co-sponsored by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service and Upper Pecos Soil and Water Conservation District. According to organizers, the five-day educational camp is planned to teach the importance of water stewardship, train them in water conservation and preservation and illustrate how Texas’ water resources are being used by industry, agriculture and municipalities. Aside from your membership dues, one of the most reliable sources of operational funding comes through our membership in EarthShare of Texas. During April there are two EarthShare inititatives that GEAA will benefit from. GEAA is pleased to announce the second year of The Reliant EcoShareSM, a way that Texans can support GEAA and offset their own carbon production at the same time. Reliant and EarthShare of Texas have launched a program that allows Reliant customers to help reduce their carbon footprints through the purchase of carbon offsets.
