Advocacy at the State level is a key part of our mission as an alliance. We see our role as consolidating support for much needed reform by devising rational policy initiatives based upon respected and reliable expertise. In addition to crafting legislation by working with our elected officials, we rally support or opposition, as appropriate, for legislation pertinent to our issues.

Action alerts during legislative sessions go out to approximately 25,000 citizens of Central Texas. GEAA initiatives include providing municipalities and counties of the Texas Hill Country with the tools they need to protect water resources through implementation of local regulations designed for that purpose. Some of the greatest successes we’ve had have been in defeating measures that would be harmful to our cause!

During the legislative session, GEAA is considered a reliable resource and is frequently called upon to provide expert testimony and sound technical information to key committees and legislators.
