2026 Water Wonks Hour Lecture Series #4: A Deep Dive into Atmospheric Water Generation

The Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance is pleased to introduce our 2026 Water Wonks Lecture Series. Mark your calendars for 3:30 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Water Wonks will feature a host of experts sharing innovative ideas and details about their work in the world of water.  The series is a free community education opportunity.

Synopsis: Atmospheric water generation (AWG) is not a new technology, but it is relatively little-known outside of the water resource world. This technology, which creates liquid water by condensing atmospheric humidity, has great potential to be utilized in a variety of innovative applications from supplementing drinking water sources to providing cooling water for data centers. This talk will dive into the types, costs, current uses, and potential new uses of this exciting and rapidly developing water resource.

Joining Audrey will be our Co-Speaker Eric Sheng, Co-Founder and COO of Aquaria climate-tech/water technology company that creates systems to generate drinking water from air.  Eric will provide a 15-minute discussion covering their efforts to provide homes in the Hill Country with AWG units and the potential for circular water systems in data centers.

Co Speaker: Eric Sheng Co-Founder & COO Aquaria

Bio:

Eric Sheng is the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Aquaria, a climate-tech company developing systems that generate clean drinking water from air (atmospheric water generators).

He is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

He co-founded the company in 2021 with his brother, Brian Sheng, to address global water scarcity and climate-related water challenges.Aquaria’s technology converts humidity into potable water and is designed for homes, communities, and large-scale developments.

Prior to Aquaria, Eric Sheng was the founder of Beam Robotics, a venture-backed robotics startup.

Eric and his brother were named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 (Energy, 2024) list for their work on water innovation.  His work centers on building decentralized, resilient water infrastructure, especially for areas facing drought, contamination, or lack of municipal supply.
